Description:
A large group of local people sprung out of their deckchairs on Hove Lawns and performed a series of 1930s Charleston-style dance moves. The impromptu event was designed to encourage people to sign up to Alzheimer’s Society’s Brighton and Hove Memory Walk, which will take place in the same location on Saturday 4th October to raise money for people living with dementia and their carers. Led by dance group, the Brighton Lindyhoppers, the gang of beginners included people affected by dementia who have signed up to Memory Walk, Alzheimer’s Society staff and vintage dance enthusiasts. They performed a dance routine demonstrating fun, alternative ways in which people can make their way around the Memory Walk. Dance group leader, Amanda Walderman is supporting Memory Walk, as she has a friend who is living with dementia. Several of the people who attend her weekly dance classes in Seven Dials came to have a dance and lend their support.
